Hopi Ear Candles

Historically used by the Hopi Indians of North America this is a wonderful treatment, being both therapeutic and relaxing. It involves the recipient lying down and each ear is treated in turn. A candle is gently inserted into the outer ear canal and lit, It burns with a very small flame, producing a fragrant 'smoke' that circulates inside the ear canal and against the eardrum by means of a process known as the chimney principle. The smoke carries fine particles of the constituents of the candle and these are then deposited in the ear canal forming a thin film. This film aided by the warmth from the candle allows the therapeutic ingredients to be absorbed through the skin.

The Candles are made from organically grown flax and impregnated with honey, beeswax and essential oils of chamomile, sage, St Johns Wort and beta-carotene, these ingredients have effective anti-inflammatory analgesic and anti-bacterial properties.
