"I first became interested in complementary therapies during my nursing career when I undertook a 2-year course in aromatherapy and massage and had the opportunity of gaining an insight into a wide range of other complementary and alternative therapies.
As part of my higher diploma, I was able to incorporate the use of aromatherapy and massage into the holistic care of my patients (with the patient’s permission). During this time it confirmed to me the therapeutic use of touch, even with a simple hand massage, especially for those older people who may be deprived of touch and those people suffering from dementia.
Since then I have gained training in other modalities and continue to see the benefits of these, although I would do these now in my private capacity and not part of my nursing role. I am a trained Reiki Master Teacher, Angelic Reiki teacher, Angelic Reiki Soul Midwife, Crystal Therapy Practitioner, qualified Aromatherapist and Massage Therapist."
